Tales of the Cocktail® return for its 19th year in a hybrid digital and in-person format from September 20-23. Headlining the conference will be the Foundation’s signature educational initiatives featuring more than 60 digital seminars selected by Tales of the Cocktail Foundation’s Education Committee. Sub-divided into three streams of education: Business, Culture and Beyond the Bar, these committees have worked collectively over the past few months to curate seminars that address the interests, needs, and goals of bartenders from this year’s open call seminar submission process.

Read on as Chanta Hunter-  Cultural Advisory Member, Bartender/Beverage consultant of The Cocktail Nymph talks about the selection process of this year’s seminar slate, our annual theme of COMMUNITY, and lists their must-see digital seminars taking place at Tales of the Cocktail® 2021.

Q: Why are you looking forward to the slated education seminars for Tales of the Cocktail® 2021?

A: This year’s seminar curators have shown up, showed out, and poured their hearts into these seminars. Every entry was not only captivating but informative. I look forward to learning from this year’s catalog.

Q: What is your definition of COMMUNITY and why do you think it is an important theme for #TOTC2021

A: Community is…support and opportunity. It is an important theme for Tales of the Cocktail® 2021 as the world is changing and inspiring growth. We need to foster and nurture relationships that acknowledge all facets of the industry.

Q: What are you looking forward to most about the “First But Not The Last: The Evolving Role of Gatekeepers in Destroying the Gates” seminar?

A: Jackie Summers is so passionate about this mission that I cannot wait to see it come to fruition. This will be groundbreaking.

Q: What interests you about the “Dealing with difficult patrons: Safe Bars de-escalation skills for the pandemic and beyond” seminar?

A: In a post-covid world where tensions and tempers are high and staff and patience are low, we could all learn how to maintain a safe environment at work.

Q: What made you choose “All-women Bar Team in Russia: From Zero To Heroine” as one of your must-see seminars?

A: I’m looking forward to being inspired by the badassery of this group of women who decided to dominate a part of the industry that didn’t want to see them win.

Q: What struck you as important about “How bartenders can thrive as entrepreneurs within the Spirit Industry” seminar?

A: As I am branching out from under the umbrella of corporate bartending, I would love to learn how to navigate the spirit industry as an entrepreneur.

Q: What fascinates you about the “Hotels: Creating and Maintaining a True Sustainability Program” seminar?

A: Restaurant waste is at an all-time high. I’m looking forward to learning about sustainability and possible ways to do my green part for the world.

Q: Why does it just make sense to include “Bar design for Real People” on your list of top seminars?

A: As a former architecture and interior design student I’m curious to learn about the behind-the-scenes aspect of bar design.

Q: What interested you about the “Agave Geeks Unite – Tequila Deep Dive” seminar?

A: I would love to learn more intricacies of agave and tequila.

Q: What are you most excited about in regards to the “How to Find the True Cost of a Cocktail” seminar?

A: I’m geeked to learn more about cocktail price and production as I begin my journey as an entrepreneur in the spirit industry.

Add any of these seminars to your agenda, catch up with old friends, learn new techniques, and further your career at Tales of the Cocktail 2021!
