CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group and New York Times best-selling author Danny Meyer will deliver the keynote address at Tales of the Cocktail® 2015.

NEW ORLEANS, LA — February 19, 2015 – Tales of the Cocktail®, the world’s premier cocktail festival held annually in New Orleans, is proud to announce that restaurateur and hospitality expert Danny Meyer will deliver the festival’s keynote speech on Wednesday, July 15 to kick off this year’s festivities. Meyer is Chief Executive Officer of the Union Square Hospitality Group, which operates a number of New York City’s most successful and critically acclaimed restaurants, including Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, Blue Smoke, Jazz Standard, Shake Shack and The Modern. His work has earned Meyer, his restaurants and chefs an unprecedented 25 James Beard Awards.

In 2006, Meyer released Setting the Table, a New York Times bestseller and a book that is regarded as one of the preeminent works on the hospitality business. Setting the Table examines the power of hospitality in restaurants, business and life as Meyer shares the lesson he’s learned in his 30-year career as a restaurateur. From the opening night at Union Square Cafe to the development of Shake Shack, and everything in between, Meyer shares the wonderful successes and humbling mistakes he’s experienced along the way.

“Mr. Meyer’s principals of ‘Enlightened Hospitality’ make him the ideal candidate to fulfill this honor of being the Inaugural Keynote Speaker, for Tales of the Cocktail,” said Paul G. Tuennerman, Co-Founder of Tales of the Cocktail®. “He’s certainly a bartender’s restaurateur.”

At this special ticketed event held the night before Tales of the Cocktail® officially kicks off, Meyer will discuss behind-the-scenes history on the creation of his most famous restaurants as well as anecdotes, advice and lessons he has accumulated throughout his life and career.

“It’s a dream come true to have the man who wrote the book on hospitality—both literally and figuratively—address Tales of the Cocktail 2015,” said Philip Duff, Director of Education for Tales of the Cocktail®. “Danny Meyer’s influence extends far beyond New York City, where his bars and restaurants changed the way people drink and dine. His philosophy of utter professionalism, supporting relaxed, caring, personal service is the way forward for our industry.”
