The Top Four Finalists for the 12th Annual Spirited Awards®
Held during Tales of the Cocktail, the Spirited Awards will honor the world’s top bars, bartenders, writers, and cocktail experts
NEW ORLEANS, LA – June 22, 2018 – After another year of incredibly competitive Top Ten Nominees and intense deliberation from the judging panels, Tales of the Cocktail® has finally arrived at the Top Four Finalists in each category for this year’s 12th Annual Spirited Awards®. All of the finalists are invited to attend the award ceremony, taking place on Saturday, July 21st at 7:00PM CT (doors open at 6:30PM CT) at the iconic Orpheum Theater, where the winners of each category will be announced live in front of their peers in the cocktail and spirits industry. In addition to the prestige that comes with winning a Spirited Award, recipients will receive a Riedel crystal trophy to commemorate their accomplishments.
“Yet again we see the continued vibrancy of the cocktail world come into focus with this great, varied list of finalists,” says Jacob Briars, International Spirited Awards Chair. “This shows the strength of the bar scene, and the people who make it, in America and around the world. It was a tough task for our many judges to make this list, but I’m sure they would agree, as these lists show, there has never been a better time to enjoy cocktails around the world than right now.”
Since their debut in 2007, the Spirited Awards have recognized the best and brightest in the cocktail and spirits industries. The award categories stretch from bartenders and brand ambassadors to bars and writers in order to ensure that every aspect of the industry receives recognition for its contributions. For these efforts, the Spirited Awards have grown to become one of the most coveted honors an industry professional can receive. Each year, a panel of over 140 industry experts, led by Charlotte Voisey (Spirited Awards Chairperson), Jacob Briars (International Spirited Awards Chair), Paul Clarke (Writing Chair), Bridget Albert and Kiowa Bryan (U.S. Judging Chairs), and Daniyel Jones, Lauren Mote, Claire Warner, Giuseppe Gallo, Micaela Piccolo, Zdenek Kastanek, Kurt Schlechter and Rebecca Sturt (International Judging Chairs) take part in a month-long voting process to choose their picks for Awards finalists. These votes are then reviewed and tallied up by Advisory Committee Members to determine the top finalists in each category.
“These finalists are representative of the best and brightest in our industry and it’s incredible to see their accomplishments recognized,” says Neal Bodenheimer, Board Member of Tales of the Cocktail Foundation. “We look forward to welcoming them to New Orleans and celebrating their contributions to the industry.”
Tales of the Cocktail Foundation invites you to the beautiful Orpheum Theater to memorialize our grand host city’s 300th year! In a venue which is as glamorous as the city of New Orleans, herself, we encourage you to emulate its elegance in your best formal attire as we recognize the best bars, bartenders, distillers, writers and more from the past year.
