A celebration of the announcement of the Spirited Awards® Regional Honorees, bringing Tokyo bar, The SG Club, to Singapore for Spirited Awards Presents The SG Club.
Tales of the Cocktail Foundation (TOTCF) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB) were thrilled to host Tokyo’s The SG Club at Singapore’s ATLAS on May 8 to celebrate the Regional Top 10 Announcements for the Spirited Awards®.
The celebration marked the second in a series of events throughout 2023, culminating in a multi-day residency at Tales of the Cocktail® 2023 that will showcase four incredible bars from the Singapore bar community.
This private event took place at Spirited Award-winning bar, ATLAS, located in Singapore’s grand Parkview Square.
The afternoon began with a series of workshops prior to the main event, allowing Singapore trade to experience education and tastings led by award-winning bartender and bar owner Shingo Gokan and The SG Club’s bartenders, Reoma “Oma” Mita and Takuro Juni. One workshop included hands-on tasting of shochu, Japan’s popular spirit; how to pair shochu with other distillates; how to work with Japanese flavors in cocktails.
The other workshop of the afternoon was led by Shingo Gokan, outlining how he went from barback to world-class bar owner. This intimate time with Shingo was a special treat for the industry in attendance, allowing for in-depth conversation and the ability to learn directly from Shingo himself.
The evening portion of the evening, Spirited Awards Presents The SG Club, gave nod to the jazz-age era, combining the elegant touches from both The SG Club and ATLAS. Showcasing modern techniques and remarkable talents, The SG Club bartenders brought their renowned bar program to life, allowing traditional Japanese elements to shine in ATLAS’ impressive, art deco grand lobby.
Typically a seated experience, Spirited Awards Presents The SG Club allowed guests the unique opportunity to move about the ATLAS space, interact with bartenders behind the bar, and enjoy a complimentary shoe-shining.
