New Orleans bartenders and members of the spirits industry are welcome to mark halfway until the July 21-26 Tales of the Cocktail® event with a free afternoon of educational seminars and a town hall happy hour.
NEW ORLEANS (January 11, 2024) – Join Tales of the Cocktail Foundation for Halfway to Tales, January 22, 2024–at Latrobes on Royal, located at 403 Royal Street in New Orleans–in partnership with Moët Hennessy. New Orleans bartenders and spirits industry members are invited to attend this free afternoon of education and a town hall for the New Orleans drinks industry. The event will include two seminars beginning at 12:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. Following the seminars, a 3 p.m. the New Orleans drinks industry is invited to attend a happy hour and Town Hall Q&A with the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation team. “We are at the halfway point until Tales of the Cocktail, 2024!” said Eileen Wayner, Chief Executive Officer of Tales of the Cocktail Foundation. “The New Orleans drinks community is so welcoming and supportive of Tales, and we are excited to host this event for them, welcoming the spirits industry for an informative and fun afternoon. We’ll share more about how they can participate in our annual event, and offer free professional educational resources for local bartenders.”
The day will feature educational seminars designed for bartenders to further their professional development. Seminar attendees will also be able to learn more about the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation’s Grant Program for 2024 which is now accepting applications for projects that support bartender welfare and well-being.
At 12:30 p.m., join three of Moët Hennessy’s Trade Engagement & Advocacy experts (Angela Sauvé, Liz Batsche, and Brian Stewart) for an immersive educational experience highlighting the world’s most famous wine: champagne. Learn what makes champagne “champagne” and discover the unique “house styles” of three iconic champagne brands: Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Armand de Brignac. Attendees will uncork world-famous bottles, taste three magical cuvées, and leave inspired by the rich stories of heritage and craftsmanship of the global phenomenon that is champagne.
The Moët Hennessy Trade Engagement & Advocacy Team is thrilled to be back in New Orleans at Latrobe’s on Royal with another opportunity to engage the local community. Latrobe’s on Royal hosted the team’s first-ever portfolio event at Tales of the Cocktail (La Maison) and the partnership continues! La Maison translates from French to “house” or “home” in English and is the Advocacy Team’s trade community platform. The following team members will bring the session to life: Angela Sauvé, Director of Trade Engagement; Liz Batsche, Director of Trade Advocacy; and Brian Stewart, Manager II, Trade Advocacy.
At 1:45 p.m., the Beyond the Bar® seminar “Better Than When We Started: Strategies to Improve Well-being and Longevity as a Bartender” features Laura Green of Healthy Pour to discuss how to build healthy coping mechanisms and prevent burnout.
Healthy Pour is an organizational consultancy focused on improving the mental health and well-being of individuals in the workplace. Green is a psychotherapist, organizational consultant, and the organization’s founder. Bartending is a physically, emotionally, and mentally strenuous job that can leave dedicated team members feeling chewed up and spit out. Healthy Pour asks what it would it look like if the norm was to approach the job better protected from corrosive stress and instead have opportunities for continued growth In this presentation, Green will discuss the importance of developing protective factors, building resilience, and implementing coping strategies to help bartenders keep doing what they love for as long as they’d like. Attendees will leave with skills and ideas they can immediately utilize as well as ways to advocate for additional support from their workplace.
At 3 p.m., the New Orleans drinks industry is invited to attend a happy hour and town hall with Tales of the Cocktail Foundation’s events and partnerships teams. Bartenders, event venues, spirits brands, and all members of the spirits industry can learn how they can participate in Tales of the Cocktail 2024, which will take place, July 21-26, 2024, in New Orleans. Foundation team members will be present to answer questions on how local bartenders and venues can get involved at the conference by either attending, getting hired to work events, or being added to the recommended venue list to host events.
