An extremely energizing 6ourbon 7ime awaits from this Texas-based ‘tender.
Fun Fact: Chris Bostick––a man who has changed the cocktail game since the very beginning, thanks to an innate knack for flavor and balance and bringing the party every time––is also a musician. You might not know this about him, but he’s very savvy with an alto saxophone and a harmonica. “I’m the best damn whistler you’ve ever heard,” he adds, cheekily.
Bostick’s three-decade hospitality career includes New York, L.A., and his hometown of Austin, Texas.
His personality shines through behind a bar, and relaxing after a shift with Bostick is a true joy. His cocktail speaks to that. Named the Studio Tan, it combines Knob Creek Bourbon with Suze and Barolo Chinato. It’s a drink built to sit for a minute, evolving into the 6ourbon 7ime hour just as you are. Let’s call it a compatriot of a cocktail, while you log in to Spotify and enjoy a playlist that begins with Remi Wolf, Polo & Pan’s Hello Hello Hello.
Careful. This one will get stuck in your head all day––but that’s nothing to be mad about. It’s a real wake-up, shake-off-the-day type remix.
“Music has had a profound impact on my life,” interjects Bostick, “and career.”
It’s a lofty career. He’s got 29 years in this industry, including owning a cocktail bar that has a live music component in Texas. “I’m always digging for music that’s fresh to me, no matter what era it might be from,” he says.
As you sip the Studio Tan, you move into tracks like Chevrolet by Taj Mahal (one of the most restorative artists we can think of), as well as a cool track called Andean Condor by Pixx. That one is by a very young artist from Britain named Hannah Rodgers. The world’s largest flying bird is a symbol to discuss and take aim at the patriarchy.
It’s a reason we love this playlist of Bostick’s. It’s an older reminder of songs we loved, plus new, evocative tracks by emerging artists. There are 17 tracks in all, including Won’t Give You Up by the funky, quirky, always beloved Tom Tom Club, and Hit It And Quit It by Funkadelic. You’re certainly dancing by the end––just as you would be if Chris Bostick took you out after work in Austin, Texas.

Ah, hopefully, those evenings are back on the horizon soon.
