Bar Director

Job Description

Tales of the Cocktail Foundation is thrilled to launch its own signature venue in New Orleans, LA in July of 2019, called Storyteller x Tales (pronounced as “Storyteller by Tales”). This venue will feature a trademark full-service bar called Tales of the Cocktail Bar. To support and manage this bar, we are looking to hire a Bar Director to work in concert with the Foundation’s Board of Directors and staff to bring this exciting initiative to fruition.

This is a singular opportunity for an individual to be a driving force in the development and launch of a dynamic bar space that will represent Tales of the Cocktail Foundation within our local community, but also to the national and international audience it influences.

The right candidate will embrace an approach that simultaneously pays homage to the past, lives in the present and looks toward the future of drinks. And, this person will need to be able to appropriately navigate within the hospitality industry and understand the importance of equitable and thorough representation of brands and partners.

Tales of the Cocktail Bar will serve as another showcase for local and visiting professionals in the spirits business. The Foundation strives to connect people who are passionate about cocktails, and this bar will be a space where the New Orleans community and visitors alike can convene over well made-drinks year round.

The candidate must live or be willing to relocate to New Orleans, Louisiana.

This is a full-time position, including paid benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guest experience
    • Responsible for overall guest experience. A strong presence on the floor is imperative
    • Assist with service, questions, comments, concerns
    • Ensure customers receive the best service possible
  • Business
    • Hiring, training, coaching and managing bar colleagues
    • Ensuring a consistent level of staff productivity
    • Fostering communication with Staff
    • Budget forecasting in conjunction with Tales of the Cocktail Foundation’s CEO and strive not to exceed expected expenses
    • Maintain, train and advise staff on bar software
  • Culture
    • Collaborate with Tales of the Cocktail Foundation’s Board of Directors and key staff members to develop and implement the bar’s culture
    • Maintain health and safety standards within the bar
    • Curate a cocktail offering based around programming
    • Facilitate and host “guest shifts” with members of the national and international bar community
  • Operations
    • Create bar staffing, delivery and operational (ie cleaning) schedules
    • Develop standard operating procedures
    • Monitor and maintain bar inventory levels
    • Support bar maintenance
    • Prepare and serve beverages as needed

Skills + Experience

  • 3-5 years management experience in the Food and Beverage Industry
  • 5 years of polished craft cocktail experience
  • Ability to maintain an organization in a changing and growing environment
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail

Director of Marketing

Job Description

Tales of the Cocktail Foundation is searching for an experienced Marketing Director to join our team this spring. The successful candidate will be comfortable providing guidance and recommendations to the Foundation’s leadership team by developing and evaluating marketing strategies, planning and coordinating marketing efforts, communicating the marketing plans to those involved, and building awareness and positioning for the Foundation’s brand.

This role requires a creative and dynamic individual who is passionate about the hospitality industry and is a spirited self-starter with three-to-five years’ experience in social media and digital advertising. The successful candidate will be a person who has the ability to own projects and meet deadlines, while connecting and communicating effectively with diverse personality types and a variety of stakeholders in a fast paced environment.

The Marketing Director role is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a competitive benefits package with health insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

Developing and managing all marketing and external communications for the Foundation inclusive of social media marketing, website, email marketing, print advertising, lead generation, promotions, and merchandise.

  • Manage media partnerships and applications
  • Create editorial content for website, social media posts and sales enablement materials
  • Develop Digital Media Packages, coordinate photography and videography
  • Overall responsibility for brand management
  • Coordinate and manage design agencies for the development of merchandise, signage and promotional materials to drive brand awareness
  • Coordination with the PR team
  • Manage internal communications in support of implementing marketing strategies
  • Develop and analyze performance metrics to track performance against goals, post-event surveys, and recaps, sponsorship recaps
  • Coordinating marketing campaigns with sales activities

Skills + Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising or related field
  • 3-5+ years of B2B marketing experience - social media and digital advertising experience required
  • Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage design projects to align with corporate branding and positioning
  • Experience with managing CRM and marketing automation tools
  • Knowledge of event planning and working within a non-profit organization a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to plan and manage at both strategic and operational levels
  • Strong decision-making and prioritization skills
  • Superb organization, project management, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Proficient with Mac computers, mobile devices, and MS Office
  • Willing and able to learn new software as needed
