What is the Education Fellowship Program?

For years bartenders have been lending their talents in exchange for valuable experience as part of the Cocktail Apprentice Program. Now we’re looking for industry members to volunteer their time and talents to assist the front of the house. As part of the Tales of the Cocktail® Education Fellowship Program, you will be on the front lines helping a wide range of Tales events run smoothly. Requirements for Eligibility

  • Must be 21+ by July 18, 2017
  • Must complete a minimum of 10 volunteer hours in order to receive wristband.
  • Must be ServSafe Alcohol Certified by July 18, 2017 **Responsible Vendor Online Course (If you are already certified in another state, you do not need to take the Louisiana online course. If you are not certified, you will not be able to assist with alcohol sampling for seminars, tasting rooms and offsite events.) Please see link for more details:

New Wristband Policy*

  • Fellows can receive their wristband upon arrival if preferred however, Tales of the Cocktail® will ask you to complete the wristband release form, with a valid credit card number and driver's license or identification card in exchange for early wristband access.
    • Credit card information will be securely held until minimum hours are met
      • Failure to show up for your shift after early acceptance of wristband will result in a penalty charge to your credit card for cost of wristband- $200USD Fee
  • The wristband release form will be available in the Fellowship check-in room. You must fill out the form completely in order to receive your wristband. Tales of the Cocktail® reserves the right to refuse early wristband acceptance to any Fellows not in compliance with rules and eligibility.

Before you fill out your application, please review the team descriptions below to see where you'd fit best!

Registration Team

To join this team, you need to be confident in commanding a large crowd. You will be responsible for giving instructions to attendees waiting for their tickets and handing out programs. You must be able to clearly communicate to our guests and keep the traffic flowing.

Tasting Room Team

Do you have experience in efficiently navigating through large crowds, diving to wipe up spills and assisting patrons when needed? This team requires you to verify wristbands, monitor the entrance and exits, assist with litter control and help with setup and breakdown if needed.

Offsite Special Events Team

This includes our Keynote event and Happy Hour. This years Happy Hour is offsite, which requires a dedicated team. You’ll be the frontline of the Happiest Hour at Tales, which means guest management is a must, scanning tickets, monitoring the entrance and exits and litter control. The Keynote team will be responsible for assisting with ticket scanning, helping patrons find their seats and guest management.

Seminar Room Team

You’ll be responsible for scanning seminar wristbands and managing the lines at the door pre-seminar. Once the seminar is over, you’ll be responsible for clearing out the room with the seminar room team and flipping the layout for the next round of seminars. This is a fast-paced, high-energy position. May be required to push and pull hotel event furniture, dispose of seminar litter and lift bar trays overhead.

Float Team

Must be open to filling in where needed! From tasting rooms and seminars to offsite events! If you would like to sign up for any of these shifts, you must still report to the Fellowship office for check-in. (except for offsite events.)

NEW- Market at Tales / Bookstore and Bitters Market Team

This is a newly combined activation including the Meet the Makers, Book Signings, Bitters Tasting and a Pop-Up store within the Royal Sonesta. You be responsible for assisting Meet the Makers and Market vendors, monitoring products, helping guests find products/schedules, and restocking merchandise as needed.
